He left the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office after 14 years as Chief Assistant District Attorney. While in the D.A.'s office, Mr. Heape was responsible for narcotics prosecution; violent crimes prosecution including domestic violence, sex crimes and homicides; law enforcement training; administration, budget and personnel and the Victim Witness Program. He has complex criminal defense experience and has represented under-served residents through court and community contracts. |

Mr. Heape has represented clients with a variety of legal issues in all courts of El Dorado County as well as courts in Amador, Sacramento, Contra Costa, Yolo and Placer counties.
Don Heape has lived in El Dorado County for more than 20 years with his wife, Carol and family. He is Past President of Choices for Transitional Services, Associacion Guadalupana and is a current board member of 4-H/FFA Junior Livestock Auction Committee.
